Wedding fair weekend

I have been very busy, getting ready for three wedding fairs this weekend. Just finished setting up at the Merchant hotel in Belfast. Clare Jen and I will be at The Clandeboye Inn, Dunadry and the Merchant. We also revamped our brochure and are in the process of updating the website design. We will post the new cakes soon.

Chocolate Wedding Cakes a choco-holic’s delight

Chocolate wedding cakes.

The weather may have been hit-or-miss this summer, but the variety of cakes we’ve been creating in The Workshop certainly isn’t! We’ve recently been working on chocolate style cakes; impressive designs decorated entirely in delicious Belgian chocolate that will stand out in any wedding reception venue. Usually five or six tiers, the flavours of cake underneath the design are still completely flexible – why not try a combination of flavours? All of the three cakes below are five tiers, and although they use similar ingredients, it just shows how you can get different effects. Take the wrapped cake. This is shown in white (decorated with roses) and dark (decorated with chocolate balls). Another combination that works well dressing this style of cake is fresh fruit – the smell of chocolate and strawberries will really get your guests’ mouths watering! An alternative way to use the chocolate is to present it like the white chocolate fan cake, with white chocolate fans and chocolate roses cascading down the middle of the cake. Either way, if you love chocolate, you will love these cakes!

Stunning novelty work at the Redcastle Hotel

Our latest creation showcases a really entertaining cake for a lovely couple who tied the knot last week. The cake was in four tiers, each individually designed by the couple to capture a part of their personalities.

The bottom tier was the groom’s choice; a football scene between him (playing for Manchester United) and his Best Man (playing for Liverpool). This time Liverpool conceded the goal – a great way to spark a friendly rivalry between friends supporting different sides!

The third tier was the bride’s choice; enjoying a drink with a friend after a mountainous shopping trip.

The second and top tiers show the bride and groom together – on a beach in Donegal where the groom proposed (complete with their dog), and then finally, on their wedding day.

This cake is perfect for couples who want to add something light-hearted and amusing to their day. When the groom returned the stand to The Workshop, he said their day was truly fun, with the cake being real talking point among guests.

Wonderful cakes, for very important dates

We love getting creative at Jenny’s Cakes, and one of the best ways is through our celebration cakes. We had great fun creating a ‘wonky’ Alice in Wonderland themed cake for a fabulous 40th birthday recently. The colours really lightened up our day, and we were delighted at the birthday girl’s response. A perfect cake for a Mad-Hatter’s Party!We’ve had lots of other fun novelty birthdays too – from farmer’s to hockey, a classic black and white 40th, to Minnie Mouse helping to celebrate a 3rd birthday.

You think of the reason – we’ll make the cake! Congratulations to our recent customers on their 50th wedding anniversary, we were pleased to make a classic cake with sugarcraft flowers to mark the occasion, a real milestone. And finally, a cute girl’s christening cake – the elephant matched the invitations to the ceremony and party, bringing the theme together.

Summer wedding cakes

With the 2011 wedding season in full flow, we are delighted to show some recent cakes we have set up for couples around different venues.

We start with an impressive cup-cake wedding cake from a wedding with a sunflower theme. There were over 150 delicious lemon cupcakes presented for guests on the day, as well as a light-hearted novelty top with the bride and groom.

In contrast to the cup-cakes, we have also been creating several classic styled cakes, perfect for an elegant wedding – check out the piping and flowers, brooches, and pearl cakes. These simple, yet stylish designs are completely customisable: have several cakes stacked on top of each other or go for pillars or dividers; include intriquit lace detail or leave plain, or incorporate a mixture of the two; use extra details like flowers, brooches or ribbons to give the cake a lift.

Why not fuse two styles together with the classic-novelty design on the four tier novelty wedding? This couple wanted to include a tractor and plane, and with the colouring of the cake, makes the novelty part really striking, and a real talking point among your guests.

Finally, we created a new design chosen by a bride this summer: five tier pink and white wedding cake. The fourth tier is coloured in pink, which really catches the eye, and the main decoration is white and pink fans and roses, with a few deep purple butterflies to give the cake a lift. Not unlike our famous ‘chocolate fan’ cake (made entirely of Belgian chocolate), we were really pleased to see the design transfer from our chocolate range to our classic range.
